10 Avatars of vishnu

I have recently learnt about the 10 avatars of vishnu. I was astounded by the fact that it was totally analogus of how the human came to live on land and his evolution.
Hinduism has explained almost everything, But the symbolism has been lost somewhere along the way. I find this concept intriguing.
